The
Bombdolls started in Tranås, Sweden, back in the early
1999. Jonasty and Boxy (the singerin the beginning) worked
together at a local avertising agency. A boring day at work
Boxy cameup with the idea to start a band. Boxy had just quit
his old punk-band Barflies and Jonasty had for a couple of
years played in different combos. KB a friend of Jonasty,
and Cal a friend of Boxy were asked and also ready to join
the band. Boxy was into glam-rock at that moment so at the
beginning the band tried to play (and failed totally!!!) glam-rock.
After just a few rehearsals the band decided to play what
they were learned to play. In other words punkrock!
Another funny thing is the story about the name. A short
story but very odd. Boxy just took the names of two bands
he listened to back then and put them together. ”New
bomb turks” and ”New York dolls” became
- THE BOMBDOLLS.
After a while (The late summer) Boxy found out that he wasn´t
able to play the guitar and booze at the same time so he decided
to drop the guitar and just do the singing (and the drinking!).
Now Dissen was introduced to the band. Dissen, a Punk-Rock
legend who knew (and knows!) how to play real Punk-rock music,
was a perfect solution for Boxy and the band. Dissen had earlier
played with bands such as Disfornicate and Turkish Revenge.
He also played (and plays) with STRIKER.
In the beginning of the year 2000 the band got into the studio
for the first time. A 6 track debut-CD was created wich was
called ”Riot never goes out of style”. This recording
turned out to be the only one with Boxy singing. The release-party
that followed was really something to remember! STRIKER played
also that late Friday night and even if the crowd wasn´t
big we had such a great time!
Later that year Boxy had some problems with hearing. He decided
to leave the band and the natural solution was to let Dissen
do the singing. The band played some gigs and was working
on the next recording. This time the band decided to make
a real punky recording. The most of the recording that became
”Use your brain!” was made in the kitchen in Nasty´s
apartment. Some neighbours wondered if there was some very
bad crime taking place at Nasty´s that winter the year
of 2000. It wasn´t, but it was the last recording there
Cal pained the drums for The Bombdolls.
Cal went on a trip abroad and therefor he quit the band. Evil,
a very experienced drummer and a friend of Dissen, was aked
to take his place. Evil jumped on the punk-rock train. Back
then he had been playing drums in RÖVSVETT for some years
and he still does. The Bombdolls hasn´t changed members
since then so the setup is..
Dissen-song and guitar
Jonasty-guitar and song
KB-Bass
Evil-Drums
Since then the band have played several gigs, 5 recordings
and been on some compilation-CD´s. More is to come.../Jonasty

During 2005 The Bombdolls did their first tour outside Sweden.
Invited by the German label CITYRAT RECORDS. Partners on the
tour was HUDSON FALCONS, great band! A deal with the label
was also made for a fullength-CD. It will be released spring
2006. It will also be followed
by a new tour in Easter, April. /dissen (2005-05-07)
The fullength CD "Explosive Lullabies" was released
April 14th -06 and the release party took place at Pub Babar
in Tranås. It was followed by tour 16 gigs in 17 days
in Sweden and mainly Germany. It was organized by CITY-RAT
RECORDS who released the album.

After a double-gig with RÖVSVETT/MIMIKRY (September 2006)
Nicke "EVIL"
Ortman left the band and took his responsability as a good
father to his newly born daughter Stella. Sad for the band,
but we found another good drummer: Robert "ROB"
Skoglund. The band continues working on new material. /dissen
